eTRU is an acronym that stands for electric transportation refrigeration unit. We use this term when describing alternatives to standard diesel-powered TRUs. With an eTRU, the compressor part of the refrigeration system is powered by an electric motor at least part of the time. Still, in some cases, an electric motor is used exclusively. It's possible to use eTRU technology reliably through the various stages, including loading, unloading, precooling, staging, and storing.
